Clearing up foggy headlights...

File:Headlight projector optics.jpg

A lot of people feel the need to replace their headlights when they begin to fog up. Not only is this unnecessary, it can also get expensive.

Here's how to clear those headlights, and make them look new again...

What you need:
1000 grade sandpaper
A simple rubbing compound (A few bucks at an auto store)
Clean SOFT cloths
Spray bottle of water (You'll need very little, but the spray bottle helps to spread the moisture).

mist your 1000 grade sand paper with water. Make it damp but not saturated. Now, take your time, and sand the headlights. Make sure to get every little area. Depending on how foggy it is, this will be the time consuming part.

Once the sanding is completed, use a soft cloth to remove the dust.

Now it's time to pull out the rubbing compound to bring back the clarity and shine. Apply a small amount of the compound to the cloth and begin to buff. Make sure to get the whole headlight. Keep buffing until the compound is clear, and the headlight looks new.

Quick fixes:
Scrub headlights with a paste of baking soda and water. Rinse well

Toothpaste-Use a soft old toothbrush to gently scrub the headlight. Rinse well.

Shaving cream- Use as you would softscrub
